2014 marked 30 years since Bandmaster Nicola Matthews first joined the band, and Sheila Matthews first started helping the band out, brushing down uniforms, whitening plimsolls and always being on-hand with an emergency safety pin. The band celebrated this achievement by holding a Prom Night for the pair, and honoured Nicola Matthews by renaming the Dedication to Duty trophy, awarded annually, after her.
