Manchester and Nationals winners 2017

The band made the 3 hour journey to the competition the girls were met with conditions they'd never competed in before, outside on a muddy and uneven field in September! Although the conditions were not great, this did not stop the band from pulling all the stops out and putting on their best performance.

We walked away winning the Championship class for Manchester and Nationals and were then made Championship League winners for 2017!

A winning return

The Haverettes made a return to competition for the first time since 2014 with a win at the jointly orgainsed TYMBA and BYBA Summer Rhythm competition in Daventry last weekend. This was the first competition for many of the band's younger members who had been hard at work perfecting the routine for many months.

The band finished the day as Championship Class winners, and also picked up wins for drill, percussion and wind!

Congratulations to all other bands for their performances, but a special shoutout to our fellow all girls Band, and Contest Class winners, Chesham All Girls!

AGM 2017

The band held it's 2017 Annual General Meeting on the 2nd March.

The committee for the coming year is as follows:

Bandmaster: Nicola Matthews

Chairman: Cliff Schafer

Secretary: Lee-Anne Covell

Treasurer: Karen Doyle

Social Secretary: Emily Garrad

Going forward the band will be actively seeking sponsorship opportunities, and any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

The band is continuing to be actively recruiting new members, and will also be promoting itself to schools to increase participation in fetes and festivals, which may also bolster recruitment.

An inspection night is also in the pipeline to ensure all members have clean and well-fitting uniforms for the year ahead. Any former members who still have pieces of band uniform or instruments, or members with multiple pieces of one part of the uniform, are asked to return these at the earliest opportunity.

Two social/fundraising events for 2017 are already in the diary. There is a quiz night organised for the 1st April, and a Halloween party on the 3rd November. Further information can be found on the website. Alternatively contact Stephanie Bamber or Kerry Nash, for the two evetns respectively.

A date for the 2018 AGM will be announced in early 2018.

Come and See The Band in Hornchurch (4th Sept)

This Sunday (4th September) the band will be playing at Sainsburys on Hornchurch High Street, from around midday. Why not pop along and see the band perform locally? If you know of any girls aged 8 and above who would be interested in joining the band, why not bring them along so they can experience it for themselves?

We look forward to seeing you there!
